La Bohème - Copenhagen Opera Festival
The award-winning English costume and set designer Emma Ryott has created a stage set-up that is just right for Østre Gasværk’s large dome room – a scenography that both spreads from side to side, grows from scene to scene and opens and closes the space as needed. One moment we are in the wretched attic, with flickering lights and the cold wind penetrating through the leaky windows, the next moment we are in the happy café Momus, or in the middle of the real Parisian market atmosphere with shouting hawkers, gigolos offering say, children playing – and a kick in the crotch if you get too close. With Ryott’s colorful costumes, we are caught in a world of life, a world of emotions.

Cinderella - Finnish National Ballet
...a breathtakingly visually beautiful ballet with film-like scenic grip...It takes place with breathtaking beautiful and splendid solutions of spotty visualization, in the scenography and costumes of Emma Ryott.

Anna Kerenina - Korean National Ballet
The first impression after watching this ballet version of ‘Anna Karenina,’ in one word, was ‘beautiful.’ The costumes, designed by London-based set and costume designer Emma Ryott, were breath-taking. The weight of the masterpiece was felt through the costumes, as if they brought the atmosphere of the period alive.

Marco Polo – Guangzhou, China
Emma Ryott’s costumes wove Venetia, Chinese and Mongolian attire into a harmonious tapestry, even giving dancers from the Guangdong Song and Dance Ensamble ‘water sleeves’ (a staple of Chinese opera) for the Choreographer Michael Barry to employ with modernist flourish.
