In February 2017 Oliver was appointed Director of Opera at the Royal Opera House. Previous to this Oliver Mears was Founding Artistic Director of Northern Ireland Opera from 2010 - 2017.
Oliver studied at Lincoln College, Oxford University to gain a Double First class BA Degree in English and History.

Oliver Mears to be Royal Opera House's director of opera. The ROH announced that he will succeed Kasper Holten who leaves London in March 2017. Alex Beard, the ROH's chief executive said it was "a very exciting appointment."
